A Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge has ordered rapper Lil' Wayne to pay a New Orleans jeweler $146,000 for a diamond ring and necklace that he didn't pay for. The Miami Herald said the hip-hop artist, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., made arrangements with jeweler Jack Sutton to pay for the bling in monthly installments back in 2006.However, Sutton said Carter made one $24,000 payment, then failed to pay the balance, so Sutton took him to court.
"Final judgment is hereby entered against the defendant," The Herald quoted Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Scott Silverman as saying in his two-page order.
In addition to the cost of the jewelry, Silverman also ordered Carter to pay 11 percent interest on the debt.
The Herald said Carter may return the ring, which cost $138,000, in lieu of paying off the debt in cash.
"We reached a settlement," Ron Sweeney, Carter's lawyer, told the newspaper. "Everybody's happy."
